On the Road

Hello Friends:

So, I have been trying to become motivated to get my life back in order. For instance, I am having thoughts about starting to incorporate running into my life. Also, I am trying to eat healthy and to increase my water intake. During this week I plan to do my best to eliminate a large portion if not all out of my daily intake.

I am so tired of this roller coaster of highs and lows of weight loss. I really enjoyed the vegan diet, it really fits in well with my lifestyle. I am hoping that this week could be the start of me getting back on track. I would love to do a juicing detox for about 10 days, but we have so much going on with the family that I do not have to juice.

For now my plan is to eat in a vegan manner adding exercise hoping to gain control of my weight while toning my body.. Wish me luck-here goes again.

Spring Break

Since Spring break my eating has been out of control. I need energy and to be healthy. So slowly I have been trying to avoid the amount of sweets that I had been eating. I am trying to get back to my Vegas lifestyle that I felt so comfortable in. Wish Me Luck!

Salad

So lately I have been struggling to get the spinach and very leafy greens down. So, I purchased a head of lettuce-iceburg to bring myself back in. The stems on the greens that I purchased were giving me a hard time. My next shopping run I intend to combine spinach with the iceberg along with romance. YUMMY!! Another plan is to make salads for the week for the week for better planning-perhaps I should use jars for my fruit salads in the mornings...hmmm We shall see, for sure my new Eat to Live lifestyle is definitely in the front of my mind. Wishing everyone a great day!

So, as some of you may or may npt know I became very ill while on the downhill of my juice fast. I was prescribed steroids, cough syrup and antibiotics. All of those meds must be taken with food so, I had to end my juice fast. As of now I have made the decision to EAT TO LIVE!!!. I completed Dr. Furman's book and I really think that his way of eating is the best option for me. So, today I will dive into the 80% fruit and veggie diet for the rest of my life eliminating dairy and meet out of my diet. Can I get a whoop woo!!!

Weigh in today.

I am totally cramping and on day one of the red's playing. I am feeling ready to break my fast so I thought that I would do a weigh in to keep me motivated. It worked!! I have been doing well, until my chest started hurting so bad over the weekend. It feels like my chest is going to burst in a moment. I am hoping that it will break up (the flem) so that I.can have relief.

Tomorrows Adventure

Tomorrow I will have my first colonic..I am excited and nervous all in one. Tonight I realized that my stomach is so glabby while doing the fast. I am hoping that my belly will go down some more then I can start working on tightening it. Honestly, when I looked down at my belly today I felt discouraged. However, I know this will be a process so I am hoping to sculpt my body one day at a time. Wishing everyone a great evening! PJ

Another Day:

Hi All: Today is going well so far! Yestetday was a bit hard as I was moving slow with drinking my juice and loss so much energy. By 3p, I was completly exhausted. So it is noon and I have had 2 1/2 juices and I am so glad about that. I am feeling energetic and in a good place emotionally. Also, I HAVE gone to the restroom and studded some waste, so I am pleased. Today I woke up feeling somewhat full no as light. I figured because I HAVE had too many fruit juices. So, I HAVE gone up on my green intake and will be going down on the fruit intake. I am thinking that today will be a great day!

Weee Ready!

Singing the we ready song as I've prepared my juices, I have my tea and many waters for tomorrow. I am even thinking of starting the day with a warm glass of water with a lemon in it. My bowels have not been as active as I would expect. So my goal this week will be to tap into some waste. I understand that enemas, smooth move and clinics are suggested while juicing. I am not a fan of those choices. But, I know that something has to happen. So, I will wrap my brain around that and do some abnormal stuff during week four as I began to transition mentally into the next phase of my health.

Preparation

I will have a very long day tomorrow therefore I am preparing today. If I am armed then I am less likely to relapse to food during my fast. So I will have four jars of mean green and two jars of something fruity for my 8a to 10p work day. I will be sure to check in with you all at some point.

Detoxification Stages

I have posted this in the past: but I wanted to share the steps of detox once more. This could possily provide somse insight on the things that I am going through, as well as stages that you will go through when you take this journey as well.

STAGES OF DETOXIFICATION
By Michael Jones in Juicing Only, March 2012 ·

The Different Juice Fasting Stages of Detoxification
A single cell within the human body is more complex than the most modern supercomputer. The process of removing a hundred thousand antigens, each with unique molecular properties, from trillions of functioning cells is indeed a complex process. Imagine three trillion cells being repaired during the function of countless biochemical processes needed for life. Even the best mechanics have to turn off the engine. Yet, the body has millions of micro mechanics that do this with ease.
One of the body’s automatic maintenance processes is the destruction of foreign microorganisms. When looking through a dark-field microscope, countless parasites are clearly visible. I observed parasites living inside blood cells. Several could be seen eating cholesterol, and I was amazed to see one swim. Watching lymphocytes moving in the blood was like a science-fiction movie. These complex, lymphocyte organisms attached themselves and engulfed toxins. As they did, their colorations flowed into fascinating patterns leaving me with a sense of wonder and respect for the miraculous ability and infinite complexity of the human body.

Fasting Detoxification Stages
Here is an overview of the detoxification stages during a juice fast. The time periods are a general estimation.

Stage 1 (Day 1 To Day 2)
On the first day of fasting, the blood sugar level drops below 70 mg/dl. To restore the blood to the normal glucose level, liver glycogen is converted to glucose and released into the blood. This reserve is enough for half a day. The body then reduces the basal metabolic rate (BMR). The rate of internal chemical activity in resting tissue is lowered to conserve energy. The heart slows and blood pressure is reduced. Glycogen is pulled from the muscle causing some weakness. The first wave of cleansing is usually the worst.
Headaches, dizziness, nausea, bad breath, glazed eyes and a heavily coated tongue are signs of the first stage of cleansing. Hunger can be the most intense in this period unless the enema is used which quickly assists the body into the fasting state by ending digestion in the colon.

Stage 2 (Day 3 To Day 7)
Fats, composed of transformed fatty acids, are broken down to release glycerol from the gliceride molecules and are converted to glucose. The skin may become oily as rancid oils are purged from the body. People with problem-free skin may have a few days of pimples or even a boil. A pallid complexion is also a sign of waste in the blood. Ketones are formed by the incomplete oxidation of fats. It is suspected that the ketones in the blood suppress the appetite by affecting the food-satiety center in the hypothalamus. You may feel hungry for the first few days of the fast. This effect is temporary. The desire to eat will disappear. Lack of hunger may last 40 to 60 days, depending on whether you are on water or juice.
The body embraces the fast and the digestive system is able to take a much-needed rest, focusing all of its energies on cleansing and healing. White blood cell and immune system activity increases. You may feel pain in your lungs. The cleansing organs and the lungs are in the process of being repaired. Periodically, the lymphatic system expels mucoid matter through the nose or throat. The volume excreted of this yellow-colored mucus can be shocking. The sinuses go through periods of being clogged, then will totally clear. The breath is still foul and the tongue coated. Within the intestine, the colon is being repaired and impacted feces on the intestinal wall start to loosen.

Stage 3 (Day 8 to Day 15)
On the latter part of an extended fast, you can experience enhanced energy, clear-mindedness and feel better than you have felt since childhood. On the downside, old injuries may become irritated and painful. This is a result of the body’s increased ability to heal during fasting. If you had broken your arm 10 years before, there is scar tissue around the break. At the time of the break, the body’s ability to heal was directly related to lifestyle. If you lived on a junk-food diet, the body’s natural healing ability was compromised.
During fasting, the body’s healing process is at optimum efficiency. As the body scours for dead or damaged tissue, the lymphocytes enter the older, damaged tissue secreting substances to dissolve the damaged cells. These substances irritate the nerves in the surrounding region and cause a reoccurrence of aches from previously injured areas that may have disappeared years earlier. The pain is good as the body is completing the healing process. The muscles may become tight and sore due to toxin irritation. The legs can be the worst affected, as toxins accumulate in the legs. Cankers are common in this stage due to the excessive bacteria in the mouth. Daily gargling with salt and water will prevent or heal cankers.

Stage 4 (Day 16 to Day 30)
The body is completely adapted to the fasting process. There is more energy and clarity of mind. Cleansing periods can be short with many days of feeling good in between. There are days when the tongue is pink and the breath is fresh. The healing work of the organs is being completed. After the detoxification mechanisms have removed the causative agent or render it harmless, the body works at maximum capacity in tissue proliferation to replace damaged tissue. While a short fast will reduce the symptoms, a longer fast can completely heal. Homeostatic balance is at optimum levels. The lymphatic system is clean except for a rare discharge of mucus through the nose or throat. After day 20, the mind is affected. Heightened clarity and emotional balance are felt at this time. Memory and concentration improve.

Stage 5 (Breaking the Fast)
The sticky, toxic, mucoid coating on the intestinal wall is loose, and the first meal frees it from the intestinal wall. Toxins enter the blood through the colon. The gallbladder dumps its waste in a heavy discharge of bile. This can cause an instant bowel movement upon eating followed by intense diarrhea. If the symptoms are too uncomfortable, an enema will help.

Tips for Juicing

As I was going through the files on our January Juicing group, I found some interesting information that may assist anyone thinking of taking this journey.

Here are Tips for Juicing:
Suggestions that we all shared during January 2011:

1. Make your juices ahead (for the day or week & freeze)

2. Strain your juices (helps aid shutting down your digestion)

3. Start little with the ginger at first

4. Start with more fruit juices until you learn to love the green juice

5. Store your juices in glass, airtight containers can keep juice for 72 hours

6. Enemas, especially coffee, are you friend.

7. Warm tomato juice for a "soup" (keep under 118 degrees to keep nutrients)

8. Drink herbal tea

9. Drink Smooth Move tea to help with bowel movement.

10. Try different juice recipes to keep from getting bored.

11. Dry brushing really helps with lymphatic drainage.

12. 64 oz of juice a day, if you are hungry drink another juice

13. 64 oz of water a day, drink more if you are thirsty it aids fat elimination

14. Reread the detox symptoms, often when you aren't feeling good, you will find your symptoms listed.

15. Use your pulp to make veggie broth. Or save to make vegan chips or compost at your farmer's market. At a later date.

16. Stay off the scale. Don't get discouraged. The weight will come off just give it a chance.

17. Remember you are aiming for 80% veggie/20% fruit

18. In the summer freeze your juice into Popsicles. It makes for a nice summertime treat.

19. Freeze lemon juice and mint into ice trays. Pop them into your water for a fresh change from the oh hum drab water.

20. Remove the thick ribs from kale and greens before juicing to cut down on bitter taste.

21. Brush your tongue after you drink your juice.

Take what works for you, ignore what doesn't.

Juice On.

Protein Issue

Hello:

So I have mentioned in my past three posts about my co-workers issues with me juicing. So, I reached out to my FB friends about their issue. Here is some information that was shared with me, that I would like to share with you.

7 Reasons Kale Is the New Beef

Like the saying goes, the only constant is change. We may resist it all we want, but Time and its inevitable evolution of everything in its path is unaffected by our attempts to stop it. The resulting trajectory of humanity's nascent ascent appears to be positioning itself to sweep us into progressive new times, especially where our food choices are concerned, as nearly 7 billion people are now standing on the little scraps of land that we share with some 55 billion rather large animals raised for food each year. (As another famous saying goes: This town ain't big enough for the both of us.) So, beef (and all factory-farmed meat) may be going from rib-eye to relic as we transition to a greener world… literally—as in leafy, green vegetables.
Environmentalists cite meat production as one of the biggest contributors to global warming, and the USDA's new food pyramid (MyPlate) suggests the healthiest choice is making vegetables and fruit the biggest part of every meal by reducing consumption of animal proteins. Kale is far more nutritious than other leafy greens, but these seven reasons why it is such an important future food may just surprise you.

1. Anti-inflammatory: Inflammation is the number one cause of arthritis, heart disease and a number of autoimmune diseases, and is triggered by the consumption of animal products. Kale is an incredibly effective anti-inflammatory food, potentially preventing and even reversing these illnesses.

2. Iron: Despite the myth that vegetarians are anemic, the number of non-vegetarians with iron-deficiencies is on the rise. Per calorie, kale has more iron than beef.

3. Calcium: Dairyand beef both contain calcium, but the U.S. still has some of the highest rates of bone loss and osteoporosis in the world. Kale contains more calcium per calorie than milk (90 grams per serving) and is also better absorbed by the body than dairy.

4. Fiber: Like protein, fiber is a macronutrient, which means we need it every day. But many Americans don't eat nearly enough and the deficiency is linked to heart disease, digestive disorders and cancer. Protein-rich foods, like meat, contain little to no fiber. One serving of kale not only contains 5 percent of the recommended daily intake of fiber, but it also provides 2 grams of protein.

5. Omega fatty acids: Essential Omega fats play an important role in our health, unlike the saturated fats in meat. A serving of kale contains 121 mg of omega-3 fatty acids and 92.4 mg of omega-6 fatty acids.

6. Immunity: Superbugs and bacteria are a serious risk to our health. Many of these come as a result of factory farm meat, eggs and dairy products. Kale is an incredibly rich source of immune-boosting carotenoid and flavanoid antioxidants including vitamins A and C.

7. Sustainable: Kale grows to maturity in 55 to 60 days versus a cow raised for beef for an average of 18-24 months. Kale can grow in most climates and is relatively easy and low impact to grow at home or on a farm. To raise one pound of beef requires 16 pounds of grain, 11 times as much fossil fuel and more than 2,400 gallons of water.

Going Strong

Hello everyone, I am still juicy!!

Today is a good day, I don't have any fruits at this time to add to my green juice so I went to jamba juice and ordered a power orange juice. ummmm My husband is now at the grocery store for me, but I didn' t want to make any silly decisions so I had a glass of green tea and then I went and got me a huge orange juice. Since then, I am feeling great because I know that I have more OJ and plenty of greens in the refrigerator.

So let me provide you with a body check, the middle of my back is so sore. My hips are achy (I have been riding the bike lots in the gym) and my mid-section is killing me. I was once told that old aches and pains comes back during the detox process. I am for sure feeling old surgeries and pains today. However, it is not discouraging me at all. I have a new found motivation (not that I had any plans on giving up) but my co-workers are starting to talk. So now it is my goal to prove them wrong to complete my full thirty days and to keep the weight off by maintaing a raw diet for another few weeks afterwards. I am really hoping to train my body to want fruits for sweets and to desire a nice salad as I saw on the Fully raw channel on YouTube last night.

I love salad, but in the past I have been so basic. This salad that she makes along with the dressing seems so do-able. I am excited to give the plant based lifestyle a shot. I really feel that I am going to be successful. The dressing that she made with her salad looked so amazing, OMG.

I am excited about my lifestyle even after my juice fast is over.

Wishing everyone a Happy Day!

Juicy Fruit

Hello everyone:

How are we doing this lovely day. All is well with me, I started my day off with a 45 minute bike ride in 24 hour fitness. That was good and made me feel great inside that I pushed myself to do that.

I want to share with you my body effects at this point: my nasal passages are draining big time. My face is breaking out, I would like to think those are the toxins coming out of my body. My belly is constantly boiling and I am running to the bathroom for liquid release so much. I have not weighed myself since earlier in the week, but I can feel that I am a little lighter. The other day my husband was telling me how good I looked, I really appreciated that.

I will weigh myself next week, that will be week three and I am so excited to reach that milestone. So, I have been doing a lot of thinking and I think that I would like to pursue a 10 day or more raw diet after I finish juicing. I really would like to have a totally raw lifestyle completely, so I would like to try it for a time period and see whether I can continue it after I reach my goal. I am very excited to transition into that lifestyle as well. I have also done some thinking and I would like to juice every three months for cleaning and keeping my body on the right track. Additionally, it is my goal to work out three to four times per week so that I am working up my heart rate and tightening muscles.

So, I had some co-workers to charge me up today about juicing. They totally attacked me saying that I am not getting enough protein. One co-worker in particular had lots to say and I am sure that is because they have been talking about my choice to juice. One co-worker continued to say how small I am, I don't think that I am that small I have only been juicing a little over a week. I don't embark week 3 until next week and I just started working out this week so I can't be that small.

Anyway, I sent a few questions to my group members and I learned lots. In the past, individuals have spoke against juicing. I actually visited with my doctor during this past week and she mentioned that juicing is a good plan to incorporate into my diet. Additionally, she suggested that I incorporate yoga, so I will find a yoga class near my job in the next two weeks. Additionally, my plan is to do a colonic during week #5 to close out my fast on a totally cleansed note.  I just realized that there are five weeks in this month, which means I would have fast for 31 days..Whoot Woo~ I am so excited to reach that finish line, I am particularly impressed with the manner that my family has supported me in my efforts.

Once again we embark on another weekend, I am going to a party tomorrow for a church member. I am sure that I will not stay long. I guess next week I will post a video or a picture so that you can take a look at me. Can you believe that I have kept my scale away from me and that I have not had the desire to get on it..I love the way that I am growing during this process!! Yea

Wishing everyone a very good evening~

Onward

Today has been quite a challenging day. I had several fires to put out so I am feeling so exhausted! It seems as though while I am jumping that I become somewhat emotional about everything. My family is eating spaghetti tonight and it smells so good! WOW                             Have I shared with you about my weight loss..As of yesterday I have loss nine pounds. I started at 210 and yesterday I was 201..I am good with that! I was imagining if I loss another 9 pounds, that would feel pretty good. My goal is to get down to 170 or to start feeling light. The heavy feeling is wearing me down. Anyway, my nasal passages are draining and my bowels are defiantly moving. I am hoping to go to the gym near my job for days to.come. I will keep you posted. I was feel exhausted so I made myself a glass orange juice. Doesn't it look refreshing...ummmm

Working Out

Well, I am off of work today and look at where I am starting my day. I have had lots of water this morning and I plan to ride the bike and read. This is my way to work myself back into a workout regimen. I am hoping that all of my juicy friends are having a great day.

Morning Juicy Press!

I am hoping that everyone is doing well. I am not sufeeling from a bad headache and I do not have the desire to eat. That is a good thing, I think that I do better during the week. However, I made it through out weekend and I thought that would have been more difficult. I was pleased that my husband did not try to force me to break the fast. I really appreciated that!!

Well Well Well

So, my eight year old wrote this note to let me know that she wanted me to stop jumping. I guess she is pleased with Mommy's appearance. Not Mommy!!

Still Juicy!!

Here is a picture of my afternoon snack. I am wanting something sweet, but then I had to add some spinach. I AM so addicted to spinach...I guess that is a great addiction. Yesterday, I kept telling myself to post. But, my head was banging so bad. I could not think straight, it was a difficult day for me. Feeling much better today, onward and upward from here!!! Juice on Friends!!!

Feelings Check

Today I am so irritable and achy..I have pains going through my back, neck and my sides..Oh wee- My belly is boiling today and that is so abnormal for me. Usually, I do not have a reaction from juicing until week #2. Today I am having some bubbly in my belly :). I am excited about that because that is how I know that waste is truly being removed from my body. My energy level is low and the sound of every one's voice around me is becoming annoying. Let's just say that I am I-R-R-I-T-A-B-L-E..

Last night I watched a few videos from Raw Raw Life and I was inspired all over again and driven. I watched Carla's first few days until Day 4, then I watched her day 38. She looked absolutely amazing and that inspired me to keep going or that I could keep going. I was not struggling with anything but just looking at her face and how narrow it had become was very inspirational.

I am looking forward to the weekend to get some rest and to do some planning for my school work and for the courses that I am teaching.  I am wishing everyone a happy weekend~

Here I Am

Happy Juicy day Peeps!!

How Am I feeling

Hello Friends:

I am a little grumpy due to my body aches and a slight headache. I am sure that at this point I have not taken in enough water (as of today) because we are moving at work so I have not had the opportunity to take a moment to myself. In a few minutes my office will be moved into it's new place and then I can take sometime to myself to have a juice, water and a cup of much needed tea.
Today my jeans are feeling somewhat light, this is how I feel early my fast because I am not loading my body with heavy unhealthy foods. Of course when you work outside of the house (some people) you tend to purchase coffee and eat out with friends to have social hour. These things will be very difficult for me but they are ultimately killing my health.
I have not incorporated exercising into my schedule yet because it is 20 degrees. I am such a Florida girl and I am not feeling the cold whether. My hair is thick and it holds water which ultimately gives me a runny nose and some sinus stuff...YUCK!! Anyway, we will see which route the weekend swings me in terms of working out, I made plans to purchase a treadmill. But, the family that I was buying it from decided to keep it..so above all I KNOW that I have to come up with some plan very soon.

Thanks for listening to me today, I'll be back to check on ya'll in a few~

Drinking up!!

So far my day has consisted of green tea with ginger, so much water, mean green and now my carrot citrus lunch/snack. After this I will have the other mean green. I am current the only one in my office right now and a very strong smell came through the vents.(food)..I had to go and get my citrus drink to calm down my taste buds!! Earlier I felt a little stressed, I was purchasing a treadmill and the family decided to keep it. What a bummer!

Here I am..

These pants are so tight on my thighs and uncomfortable. YUCK!!! Ready for that oh ah feel, like the mattress giant. He he he                  Wishing everyone a great night and a healthy New Year!

Kale

Check out the kale. During my first juice fast I could not handle the kale. Now that I know how it is a great detoxing method...KALE,here I come. :)

Before Pic

Here is a picture to show as a before! Do you see how unhappy I look, in a few weeks looking for a smiley pic!

Start Weight

My start weight as of January 1, 2013 is 210.0. I am praying that this is the last time that I see myself in the 200 area. I have decided to weigh myself this one time, then I have put the scale up until further notice. I am thinking about weighing myself at 15 days since that will be the halfway point. I am sure that will motivate me to continue to the finish line. I would love to go until 44 days which will place me right at Valentine's Day. However, depending on how my body feels (whether it is too light) and how my mind feels will determine the finish line. But, the least amount of days will consist of thirty days..I am ready to be a better me and to lead by example as mentioned in previous posts.

Looking forward o a successful start to this New Year...

Friends: HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

Round face vs. Narrow face

I chose the narrow face, so I will be working hard to get there!

Just Juicing

Hi Friends:

It is always exciting when on a juice fast because it is so different and amazing how your body transforms. Today, I purchased a treadmill that will assist me on my journey to a healthy lifestyle. Below I have placed a few pics to show my preparation. I have mean Green and a veggie/fruit combo. Um Um Good!
I am looking forward to sharing with you while on my transformation journey~
